Somehow I ran into a problem loading Windows 7. It only turned out to boot into a system with command line support (cmd.exe). And in order to climb further, it was necessary to prescribe commands with pens. Thank God that there was another computer at hand, and I, having googled the Internet, found a useful tablet, which I hasten to share with you.
Here is a summary table of the names of all standard Windows 7 Control Panel items that can be useful for launching the latter from the command line and creating shortcuts.
If a required device, drivers, or certain components are missing in the system, the corresponding Control Panel item may not start.

Searching for files and folders in Windows 10 will be much faster if you turn on the indexing function in the system settings. Methods and algorithms for indexing in the “ten” is somewhat different from what was in previous versions of the system, but the principle itself remains the same as a whole. Windows reads the names of files and folders and then places them in a special database that it accesses when users perform searches.
Reading a single file takes much less time than reading an entire section, so search results are returned in a matter of fractions of a second. By default, Windows 10 indexes the main menu, Internet Explorer logs, and some directories, but if desired, the user can add other directories to the indexed list.
There are, however, objects that the system deliberately ignores when indexing.
These include any files and folders that have been encrypted using the standard . If you want encrypted areas to be indexed too, follow these simple steps.
Open with control /name Microsoft. IndexingOptions indexing options, click the “Advanced” button.

And check the box “Index encrypted files”.

Confirm the action in the opened security window by clicking “Continue”.

From now on, encrypted files will also be included in the index, but we strongly recommend that you do not enable this feature if the index base itself is in an unencrypted area.
Hello! This article will be devoted to the place where I like to send almost every second of our readers. We are talking about the Network and Sharing Center. And most still do not know where to look for it. We will correct using the Windows 7-10 family of operating systems as an example.
Via tray
Personally, I myself like to launch the Network Control Center through the tray. We click on the network connection icon (wired or wireless) with the right mouse button in the tray near the clock and select the “Network and Sharing Center” item. On Windows 7 it looks like this (and on Windows 8 – 8.1):
On Windows 10, all the functions of the Center were assigned to “Network and Internet Settings”. Runs the same way, you can use:

But in fact, it can be launched on the “top ten”. To do this, go to the “Network and Internet settings” mentioned above, and in the “Status” item, select “Network and Sharing Center”:

Via control panel
The method is relevant for Windows 7, because in the “tens” settings, the emphasis is on “Network and Internet settings”.

On Windows 10, the Control Panel was replaced with “Settings”, and here there is already an item known to us above, from where network management starts:

But there is also a classic Control Panel located in Start – Windows Tools:

Next, click on “Network and Internet”:

And choose our item:

Through Run
The method is available on the entire line of Windows 7-10. To do this, launch the Run utility and execute the command:
control.exe /name Microsoft. Network&SharingCenter
The utility is launched either from the Start menu (if it was added), or by pressing + .

Where is Network and Sharing Center in Windows 10? Has it disappeared? Actually, not yet. The thing is Microsoft gradually moves the applets from the Control Panel to a new Settings app.
If you have Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (version 1709) or later version installed on your PC, you won’t see familiar “Open Network and sharing center” any more when you right-click the Ethernet or Wi-Fi icon the Taskbar. You see “Open Network and Internet settings” instead.
Windows 10 is like a living organism that is constantly changing and evolving. That’s why we have to modify our tutorials related to this OS because after each update there are many things that won’t work any more.
In this post we will explain how to find and open Network and Sharing Center in Windows 10 of the latest version and create a shortcut on the desktop. By the way, there is a high probability that this guide won’t help after the next Windows 10 update.
How It Was Earlier And How It Is Now
Here is how it was before the Fall Creators Update:
How it is now:
Where is Network and Sharing Center in Windows 10 Version 1709 And Higher
If you are unable to use method 2 for some reason, you can open the applet using the command line or a bat-file.
Create A Shortcut To Network And Sharing Center In Windows 10

I think, you won’t feel happy to perform all those steps every time you need to open the deprecated applet. So, create a shortcut. All you need to do is drag and drop the icon from the address bar to the desktop:
It’s that easy!

If the “Restore” button is available, click it.
The second way involves rebuilding the index.
If your indexing is disabled, try enabling it. It is not difficult to rebuild the database, open it with the command control /name Microsoft. IndexingOptions indexing options.

In the window that opens, make sure that the directory is in the list, click “Advanced”, and then in the new window “Rebuild”.

If that still doesn’t work, reinstall the app, but before that, try one more method.
How about such an alternative – manually placing an application shortcut on the desktop, taskbar or home screen?
Then get down to business.
Use the command in the “Run” window to navigate to the original location of the application shortcuts.

Find the program you need, right-click on it and select “Pin to Taskbar”, “Pin to Start Screen” or “Create Shortcut” from the menu.

If you select the third option, Windows will report that it cannot create a shortcut in the current folder and will offer to place it on the desktop, which you need to agree to.

Windows 11 continues to migrate settings from the old Control Panel to the new Settings menu. But, while many settings are still available only in the Control Panel, which is why users need to access this tool.
In this article, we will look at several ways to open the Control Panel in the Windows 11 operating system.
Method #1: Search in the Start Menu or Settings.
The easiest way to open the Control Panel in Windows 11 is to use the menu search “”. To do this, open the menu “”, enter the phrase “” in the search and open the found application.

By searching in the “” menu, you can also pin the Taskbar to the home screen (in the “” menu) or the Taskbar.

You can also use the search in the new menu “”. To do this, open “” using a key combination or using the icon in the “” menu. After that, enter the phrase “” in the search box and open the found section.

As a result, the Control Panel window will appear in front of you.

As in the previous version of Windows, only some sections are available here, since most of the options have been moved to the new “” () menu.
Method No. 2. “This computer” window.
In addition, the Control Panel can be opened through the “” window. To do this, open the “” window (or just any folder) and click on the down arrow in the address bar, next to the computer icon.

As a result, a drop-down menu will appear, with which you can open the Control Panel. You can also find Recycle Bin, user folder, Libraries, Network, OneDrive, and connected drives here.
Method No. 3. “control” command
Another standard way to open the Control Panel in Windows 11 is the “”. To use this method, you need to call the window “” (key combination), enter this command and press enter. You can also execute the “” command using the command line (cmd) or the PowerShell console.

The “” command launches the main window of the Control Panel. But, if necessary, you can immediately open the section that is needed. You can use the following commands for this.

Windows 10 Network and Sharing Center how to open? Many users of the “dozens” faced this issue after the next OS update. Up to this point, it was possible to access the desired functionality directly by right-clicking (hereinafter referred to as RMB) on the Network connections icon on the taskbar (lower right corner, near the clock). But now there are completely different items displayed. Now let’s look at several ways to find the TsUSiOD.

Where is Windows 10 network management located?
Let’s start with the simplest method, which is a bit similar to the usual way used before.

It seems to me that such a solution is not much more complicated than the one that users of previous versions of the OS are used to. Just a couple of steps and you’re done. But then I will talk about a few more options.
How to open Network and Sharing Center via command line
This is not about the CMD console, but the “Run” window, which is called up by pressing the combination on the keyboard – +. After the form appears, enter the command in the line:
Press Enter, wait a couple of seconds and see the desired result on the screen.
Please note that you can easily add a shortcut to the desktop by specifying the path containing the above command in its settings:

Use the control panel
This method is similar to the previous one, but instead of a command, we will manually open the control panel. This can be done in different ways, but the easiest way is through the search:

We figured out how to enter. Now I suggest that you familiarize yourself with a few more useful points that can make using Windows 10 easier.

Indexing is a process that allows you to speed up the search for files on your computer. The system goes through all available files in advance and compiles an index. In the future, the search is first performed in an already prepared index and only after that directly in the file system. This allows you to significantly speed up the search, especially if there are a lot of files on your computer.
The disadvantages of indexing are the increased load on the processor and storage. If the computer uses an SSD, then this also leads to a reduction in its resource. Because of this, many users choose to disable indexing in Windows 11 and Windows 10.
How to disable folder indexing
If you decide to disable indexing in Windows 11 or Windows 10, then you need to open the “” window for this. You can do this in many ways, the easiest option is to use the search. To do this, open the menu “”, enter the word “” in the search and open the found program.
In Windows 11 it looks like this:

On Windows 10:

In addition, “” can be opened using the command. To do this, press the key combination and run the command “control /name Microsoft. Indexing Options”.
The “” window will display a list of folders that are indexed by the system. Here you need to click on the “” button.

As a result, you will see a window in which you can change the list of locations that are used for indexing. In order to disable indexing, click on the “Show all locations” button, uncheck all the boxes and save the settings by clicking on the “” button.

Disabling all locations will effectively stop indexing from working.
How to disable indexing for disks
In addition to the method described above, there is an alternative option, you can disable indexing in the disk properties. To do this, open the “” window, right-click on any disk and select “”.

In the window that opens, you need to uncheck the box opposite the “P” item and then close the window by pressing the “” button.

This procedure can be repeated for all discs and thus completely disable indexing.
How to disable indexing service
The above options disable indexing, but the service that is responsible for this process will continue to work. If you want to get rid of it, then this can be done through the snap “”. To disable the indexing service in Windows 11 or Windows 10, you need to press the key combination and in the window that appears, execute the command “”.
In the window “” you need to find and open the service “”.

In the window that appears, select “Startup type – Disabled”, close the window by clicking on the “” button and restart the computer.

Please note that even after completely disabling indexing, the search will continue to work in the menu “”, “” and “”. The search in files and folders will also work, but in slow mode.
Is your Windows 11 Start menu not working? If yes, then this post is definitely for you. Back in October 2021, when Microsoft released its latest Windows OS, most users really liked the new menu and its design.
Although, it was pretty good and I really liked it too.
But after a while, many users started facing problems like the Start menu not opening, freezing or maybe it freezes.
Users tried every possible way to open it with mouse, keyboard, on-screen keyboard, and also with Windows 11 in tablet mode.
But don’t worry, we have some working fixes.
However, it is quite normal to run into some kind of problem or bug with a new operating system. But what really sucks is when we can’t fix it and things stop working when we’re doing some important work.
And if you look at this problem, you will see that after clicking on the start menu icon, it looks like it is open, but nothing pops up. What’s more, for some users, this issue was automatically fixed after updating the drivers and exiting the Windows Insider Program. (But this is not the actual solution for this)
Also, I’ve also seen users get confused by the start menu or search bar not working. In this case, you can also refer to our detailed post about it when it goes live.
But if you are completely sure about them, then you can follow the methods below one by one and check which one works for you.
Restart Windows Explorer.
Windows Explorer is used to open any files on your computer, and is also responsible for the functions of the Start menu and the taskbar. Thus, there may be a possibility that Windows Explorer may not work properly. In this case, restarting might help you resolve the issue. And this method is not specifically for the Start Menu, but it can also help you fix issues like the taskbar not hiding in full screen mode.
And here are the steps to follow:

Restart the start menu background services.
Everyone knows that there are hundreds of background services and processes that are responsible for running all the applications on your PC. Similarly, there is one important Start Menu service that helps to launch it properly. As some users also reported that the start menu does not load on startup. Thus, there may be some chances that its background service is having problems loading, in which case restarting it can help us.

Restart your computer
At this point, you might think that all these 3 methods are almost the same. But trust me, these are the safest and easiest ones that can help you fix the Windows 11 Start Menu not working problem. If you encounter any problems with your computer, it is always advised to restart your computer as this provides a fresh start computer. Sometimes there is a very large load on the device, because of which you may encounter such problems in operation.

Use the troubleshooting app in the start menu.
However, Microsoft released Windows 11 with a new companion app such as the PC Health Check app. But, on the other hand, they also removed support for some useful apps like Cortana, Paint 3D, Meet Now, and, unfortunately, the Start Menu troubleshooter app.
Basically, this troubleshooting app was designed for the Windows 10 operating system when one feature update caused the start menu to crash. And to fix all these issues, this app was provided by Microsoft and now it is deprecated.
But you can still use it by following these steps:
1. First, download and install the Windows 11 Start Menu Troubleshooter from the provided link.

2. Now launch the app and click on the “More” link.

3. Finally, check the “Apply repairs automatically” box and click the “Next” button.

After that, it will start to find problems in the start menu and fix them accordingly. Once this is done, restart your computer and check if it works or not.
Re-register the Start Menu in Windows 11.
In many cases, I have seen that re-registration of the application really helps to solve problems. But what I didn’t like about this method was using Windows PowerShell and typing commands in it. Here we will re-register the shell packages, which are basically responsible for the entire Windows interface, as well as the start menu.

Note. If you have followed the steps in method 5, I suggest you rebuild the search index by following the steps in method 9.
Check for system updates
Microsoft usually provides system updates to fix bugs and other problems. Since this version of the operating system is new, I would recommend that you keep your system up to date. And if your start menu is not working on Windows 11, I suggest you check for updates. Because in the previous case where the Snipping tool didn’t work, this issue was only fixed after getting the cumulative update.
And here are the steps to follow: –

Delete start menu and app settings
I know that customizing your desktop to look cool is a lot of fun. But not always, because sometimes they can cause compatibility issues with your system. And in this case, you need to remove these Start Menu settings and third-party apps installed on your PC. And if you have added some customization files as well, I would advise you to remove them immediately.
Moreover, some users also use third party apps like TranslucentTB and TaskbarX to make their taskbar transparent. And the same goes for them, they need to be removed.

Log in with a local administrator account.

Rebuild search index
I told you earlier that there are a lot of users who are really confused if it’s the search bar or start menu that doesn’t work. And this is only because they are both very closely related or somewhat integrated. In this situation, if the search index gets corrupted, it can also affect the functions of the start menu. And to avoid this situation, we need to rebuild the search index so that it can fetch and display search results quickly.
1. First, open the Run window by pressing the Windows+R keys.
2. Now enter this command and click OK.
Command: control /name Microsoft. Indexing Options
3. This will open the Indexing Options dialog box, so now click on the Edit button.

4. Now the Indexed Locations dialog box will open, then click Show All Locations.

5. Then uncheck all the boxes and click OK.

6. After that, you will return to the “Indexing Options” dialog box and click the “Advanced” button.

7. Finally, the “Indexing Options” dialog box will open, and then in the “Troubleshooting” section, click the “Rebuild” button.

After repairing, restart your computer and check if the problem with Windows 11 Start Menu not working is fixed.
If any of the above methods does not work for you, then restarting the PC can help you with this. I am grateful that Microsoft has provided this option, because after using it, your settings will be set to default again. Not only that, but Reset this PC will also help you fix a lot of errors and optimize your computer’s speed. Also, I would advise you to back up any important data before restarting your computer.
1. First, go to “Settings” by pressing the keyboard shortcut “Windows+I”.
2. Now go to System and click Restore.

3. After that, in the “Recovery Options” section, click the “Reset Computer” button.

4. Now the “Reset this PC” dialog box will open, and then click “Keep my files”.

5. Finally, click the “Next” button, and then finally click the “Reset” button.
Now your computer will restart automatically, and after that, the factory reset process will take a few minutes.
Update your PC drivers
In the opening section, I already mentioned that not updating your PC drivers can also cause some problems, but here we will discuss this in more detail. Many users have also reported that they have fixed Start Menu issues by updating drivers such as the graphics driver, the DBUtil uninstall utility, and the Intel Management Engine Interface driver. In this case, you can also try updating the cFosSpeed driver, because it might be causing a compatibility issue with the start menu as well as the taskbar.
1. First, press the key combination Windows+I.
2. Now find “Device Manager” and click on it.

3. After that, go to “Display adapters” and double click on it.

4. Now right-click on the installed “Graphics Driver” and select the “Update Driver” option.

5. Finally, click “Search for Drivers Automatically”.

After updating the drivers, restart your computer and check if your problem is solved. Above, I only showed the process of updating the graphics driver, but you can also update other drivers as well.
Restart the Iris service
Like other users, if you also signed up for the Insider Program to get early access to Windows 11, I would advise you to sign out now. Since this program mainly provides beta updates such as build 22449 which may contain bugs and fixes. And if these errors are not addressed in time, they can easily cause problems with services such as Iris Service, as well as the Start Menu and Taskbar.
In this case, we must delete the registry files of the Iris service and then reinstall it by following the steps below.
Although we can easily open the command prompt by pressing “Ctrl+Shift+Enter” or “Windows+S”. But since neither keyboard shortcuts nor the Start menu work in Windows 11, we will use another method.
1. First press the shortcut keys ‘ Ctrl+Shift+Esc’.
2. This will open the Task Manager, then click “File” and select “Run a new task”.
3. Now in the “Open” field, enter “cmd.exe” and click “OK”.
4. Finally the command prompt will open, so now copy and paste the command and then press Enter.
Command:reg delete HKCUSOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionIrisService /f && shutdown -r -t 0

Note. Please save your work before running these commands because your computer will automatically restart after that.
Start Windows 11 in safe mode.
Safe Mode is a Windows mode that helps you start the operating system with basic functions. In addition, third-party applications cannot be used while running in this mode, which means that we can easily check if any third-party application is causing any problems with the Start menu or not. There are many ways to start Windows 11 in safe mode, but here we will only tell you about the simplest one.
2. Now scroll down on the right side and go to the “Recovery” section.
3. Now in the “Recovery Options” section, click the “Restart Now” button, which is located to the right of the “Advanced Startup” tab.

4. After that, it will ask for confirmation, so click the “Restart now” button again.

5. Your PC will now boot into recovery mode, and then click Troubleshoot.

6. Now go to the “Advanced Options” section.

7. Then go to the Launch Options section.

8. Now Launch Options will open and then click the Restart button.

9. Finally, press the “F4” key to start the computer in safe mode.

Your computer will now boot into safe mode, now check if the start menu is working. And if that works, try uninstalling third-party apps that you think might be causing problems.
Rollback to Windows 10
If after using all the above methods you are still facing the error, you should revert to Windows 10. Windows 11 is definitely an updated and better version, but if you encounter errors and cannot resolve them, it is recommended to revert to an older version of Windows. What’s more, you can only use this method if you haven’t used Windows 11 for more than 10 days. And you don’t need to download anything, just follow the steps below and you will be back to your Windows 10.
1. First, press “Windows+I” key combination to open “Settings”.
2. Now go to the System section and go to the Recovery tab.
3. Now in the “Recovery Options” section, click the “Return” button.

4. Then follow the instructions on the screen.
Note. You can also refer to the link above for details on rolling back to Windows 10.
Uninstall update KB5004300.
Although I mentioned in the steps above that the update can help you fix this problem, but I have seen some users report that their Windows 11 Start Menu works after the “KB5004300” update. So, in this case, uninstalling this update can easily help you fix this problem. However, it is very unlikely that you will lose your data during the deletion process, but we recommend that you back up your data.
2. Now go to the “Windows Update” section.
3. After that, go to the “Update history” section and then go to the “Uninstall updates” settings.

4. Now the control panel will open, so right click on the “KB5004300” update and select “Uninstall”.

5. Finally, restart your computer.
Check for viruses or malware
Now, if you have already tried all the above methods, I would advise you to check for viruses or malware. Because sometimes they also block useful processes, considering them to be viruses, and they can also cause problems with the Start menu. And to solve this problem, we will run a quick scan with Windows Defender.
2. Now go to the “Privacy and Security” section on the left side.
3. After that, in the “Security” section, go to the “Windows Security” tab.

4. Now in the “Protection areas” section, click “Virus and Threat Protection”.

6. Finally, select the “Full Scan” option, and then click the “Scan Now” button.

Note: – If this problem still persists, I suggest that you disable your antivirus program. This may be causing a compatibility issue with Windows 11.
Restore Windows
Restore Windows means that you will restore your Windows OS to when it was working normally. And this is done through backups, Windows usually backs up the entire system at frequent intervals. In addition, these backups are also known as restore points, which help us restore our windows to a specific point in time.
2. Now go to the System section, scroll down and go to the Recovery section.
3. Now under Recovery Options, click the Restart Now button for advanced startup process.
4. After that, it will ask for confirmation, so click the “Restart now” button.
7. After that, go to the “System Restore” section.

8. Finally the “Restore System Files and Settings” dialog will open, so now select the specific “restore point” and follow the instructions.
Conclusion
So, this is how you can easily fix your start menu if it’s not responding or not working. Also, you can use these methods if your menu or taskbar is frozen and won’t open accordingly.
What’s more, we’ve tried to cover anything and everything in this post and will update it as soon as anything comes up.
